*LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar has paid the fineimposed upon eminent lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan. *
*CJP and eminent lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan engaged in a repartee earlier thismonth when the Supreme Court imposed a fine of Rs10,000 on the PakistanPeople’s Party (PPP) leader for not appearing in a case pertaining toinfant formula.*
Aitaza Ahsan had said that the court order damaged his reputation as he hadnever been slapped even a single rupee fine during his entire career.
The PPP leader argued that he was punished for his farewell speech in theSenate, urging the court to withdraw the fine.
Taking his remarks in a lighter mode, the chief justice said he can pay thefine from his own pocket on his behalf.
According to Geo News, the chief justice on Saturday told the lawyer thathe has submitted the fine.
And when Aitzaz Ahsan turned to leave the courtroom during the hearing ofthe case, the CJ asked the court staff to give him receipt of the fine paidby him.
The chief justice told Aitzaz Ahsan the fine was actually paid by his sonwho said he would like to pay on behalf of his uncle (Aitzaz Ahsan).
