TEHRAN – US President Donald Trump’s first-year average job approval ratingwas at least 10 percentage points lower than that of any of hispredecessors, according to Gallup.
Trump’s job approval rating during his first year in office averaged 38.4percent, Gallup reported. By comparison, President Obama’s first-yearaverage approval rating was 57.2 percent, The Hill reported.
The only other President to average below 50 percent in his first-year jobapproval rating was President Clinton, whose average was 49.3 percent,Gallup reported.
Six out of the 10 men who have been elected President since World War IIhave had a job approval rating averaging at 60 percent or higher duringtheir first year in office.
Trump’s average job approval rating during his first year also falls withinthe top 10 worst average job approval ratings for any President sinceGallup started regularly recording the measurement in 1945.
Trump has struggled with low job approval ratings throughout his first yearin office. He has failed to fulfill some of his key campaign promises,included the repeal and replace of ObamaCare and building a wall along thecountry’s Southern border.
In December, Trump signed a sweeping Republican tax bill into law, enactinghis first major legislative accomplishment since winning the White House.
