ISLAMABAD – Pakistan cricket women selection committee led by Urooj Mumtaztoday announced the Pakistan team in the three-match T20I series againstBangladesh in Lahore from Saturday.
Bangladesh will play three T20I matches and two ODIs in their tour ofLahore, the series starts with the opening T20I at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadiumon 26 October.
The team was finalized keeping in view the performance of the players inthe training camp that concluded in Muridke on Tuesday, while the core ofthe squad that has represented Pakistan recently was also retained. FormerPakistan players Asmavia Iqbal and Marina Iqbal are the other two membersof the selection panel along with Urooj.
Chief Selector Urooj Mumtaz said:
We are delighted to host the Bangladesh team and look forward to anexciting series. It is the first international assignment for the teamsince the tour to South Africa in June. The team is a good blend ofexperience and young exciting players. With the women’s game developing ata rapid pace, we aim to play a positive and aggressive brand of cricket andproduce solid performances.
The primary focus will remain on winning as it will build confidence withinthe group, this is pivotal for us as we head into a busy internationalschedule over the next six months. During the series, we would also like togive an opportunity to some emerging players so that they can experiencethe aura around international cricket and its pressures.
