The Indian army chief’s comments come as the war of words get heated afterIndia refused a peace overture by Pakistan a day after agreeing to it.

During an interview, the Indian army chief questioned the potency ofPakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s peace proposal extended to PrimeMinister Narendra Modi earlier this week saying, “When Imran Khan came topower in Pakistan, he tried to send some messages of peace. But whether theentire establishment in Pakistan wants this peace is what we have tounderstand.”“There seems to be some kind of variation in what is being uttered, what isbeing spoken about and what we’re seeing in action on the ground. I thinkthere is disharmony between the two,” Gen Rawat said.

He said that though Islamabad has time and again maintained that its soilis not being used for terror activities, however, the commitment has failedto transpire on the ground.
