*ISLAMABAD – The Lahore High Court has dismissed AML leader Sheikh Rashid’spetition challenging the postponement of election in his constituency theNA-60 (Rawalpindi).*
The ECP on July 22 postponed the election in NA-60 after PML-N candidateHanif Abbasi was disqualified.
An anti-narcotics court on July 21 sentenced Abbasi to life in prison inthe ephedrine quota case.
PPP candidate Mukhtar Abbas had also petitioned the Islamabad High Courtagainst the ECP notification and asked for the election to be held as soonas possible.
He said that an election cannot be postponed only because one candidate hasbeen sentenced to jail.
