Pakistan Army and police are 3rd largest contributers to UN peacekeeping Force

Five martyred peacekeepers from Pakistan will receive Dag Hammarskjöld Medal posthumously at a ceremony to mark the International Day of UN Peacekeepers in New York on Wednesday.

US Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will lay a wreath to honour all fallen peacekeepers and preside over the ceremony to award one hundred seven teen medals to military, police and civilian personnel who lost their lives while serving in peacekeeping operations during 2016.

Five recipients from Pakistan are Havildar Abdul Majeed Khan, Havildar Zishan Ahmed, Lt. Col. Muhammad Ashraf, Naik Qaiser Abbas, and Ms. Shabnam Khan.

Pakistan is the 3rd largest contributor of military and police personnel to UN peacekeeping.
