NEW DELHI – To celebrate the Pakistan Day, an impressive flag hoistingceremony was held at Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi on Saturdaymorning.
High Commissioner Sohail Mahmood hoisted the National Flag andcongratulated Pakistan nationals in India on this auspicious occasion, amessage received here from New Delhi said. Students of Pakistan Schoolpresented tableau on national songs.
Deputy High Commissioner Syed Haider Shah read messages of the Presidentand the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
High Commissioner Sohail Mahmood and other diplomatic staff of the highcommission also performed cake cutting ceremony to celebrate theanniversary.
At the end of the ceremony, Mrs Mahwish Sohail, wife of the HighCommissioner, distributed gifts among the students.
A day earlier, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had extended best wishesto the people of Pakistan on the national day – a gesture welcomed by PrimeMinister Imran Khan.
The day is being observed to commemorate the passage of Lahore Resolutionon this day in 1940, under which the Muslims of the sub-continent set theagenda of a separate homeland for themselves.
