Facebook has announced to remove four networks of ‘coordinated inauthenticbehavior’ tied to Russia and Iran as it prepares to launch new featuresrelated to elections.
The company said it removed number of fake accounts operating from Russiaand Iran.
“We took down these networks based on their behavior, not the content theyposted,” Facebook said in a post. “In each case, the people behind thisactivity coordinated with one another and used fake accounts tomisrepresent themselves, and that was the basis for our action.”
In addition to the network removals, Facebook is going to prominently labelposts that include false information. Besides that, the social networkingsite plans to introduce a U.S. presidential candidate spend tracker thatwill show users how much each candidate has spent on Facebook ads.
Moreover, in order to protect the official accounts of elected officialsand related authorities from hackers, the company has introduced a new toolknown as ‘Facebook Protect’.
