Afghan Military bases with dozens of soldiers, under siege in Afghanistan

KABUL – Afghanistan Uruzgan MPs said on Saturday dozens of Afghan NationalArmy (ANA) soldiers have been surrounded by anti-government armed groups inKhas Uruzgan district in the province and need immediate assistance, TOLONews has reported.

The MPs said security forces have been under siege for two months and untilnow government has done nothing to help them. These MPs said the troopsneed food and equipment.

According to these lawmakers, routes from Khas Uruzgan district to theprovincial capital, Trinkot city, also face serious security threats.

“It is two months that an ANA base, also with police soldiers, havebeen surrounded and they don’t even have food to eat. They are in a verybad situation. Government is not reaching them, and a tragedy will happenthere,” Uruzgan MP Obaidullah Barekzai said.

Khas Uruzgan district is one of the most insecure districts in the provincewhich borders Zabul and Ghazni provinces.

“They are under siege and are hungry and the situation is very bad there,”Hanif Hanifi, a senator from Uruzgan said.
