Pakistan FM Qureshi telephones Sri Lankan PM, offers all out help

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has extended all out help and support to Sri Lanka inthe wake of explosions in Colombo in which more than two hundred peoplewere killed.

In a tweet message, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said he spokewith Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and assured him thatPakistan stands with Sri Lanka in its hour of need.

He said Pakistan also suffered as a result of terrorism but together wewill defeat this menace in all its forms and manifestations.

13 suspects arrested

Meanwhile, in Sri Lanka, thirteen suspects have been arrested over a seriesof eight explosions.

According to Sri Lankan police officials, these suspects have been takeninto custody in Colombo and handed over to the Criminal InvestigationsDepartment.

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena has appointed a specialcommission to probe the attacks.

UN expresses outrage at terrorist attacks

The United Nations has expressed outrage at the terrorist attacks onchurches and hotels in Sri Lanka on Easter, recalling the sanctity of allplaces of worship.

In a statement, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his deepestcondolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery tothe injured.
