NEW DELHI – Irked India on Friday rejected Pakistan’s response on verdictin the Samjhauta Express blast case.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, “There hasbeen no cooperation from Pakistan. We reject Pakistan’s attempt topoliticise the matter. It is being done to deflect attention from theirfailure in bringing perpetrators of several terrorist attacks in India andregion to justice.”
The MEA Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar in a press conference said, “We demandthat Pakistan should take immediate, credible and irreversible measuresagainst cross-border terrorism without any discrimination and withoutresorting to such gimmicks.”
His remarks came after Islamabad conveyed “concerns” regarding theacquittal of the four suspects in the 2007 Samjhauta Express blast case toseveral countries on Wednesday through its Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua.
The Indian High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria was summoned by Acting ForeignSecretary in Islamabad after the Samjhauta verdict was given by the specialcourt in Panchkula, Haryana and a strong protest was lodged by on theacquittal. Pakistan called it travesty of justice & one that “exposes thesham credibility of the Indian Courts.”
