Saudi crown Prince comes out in full support of Afghanistan peace process

RIYADH – *The Office of President Ashraf Ghani’s National Security AdvisorMohammad Hanif Atmar on Thursday said that the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammedbin Salman has come out in full support of the peace and reconciliationprocess in Afghanistan. *

“Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in his meeting with NationalSecurity Advisor Mohammad Hanif Atmar called on all parties involved in thepeace process to support the process to get it (back) on track,” Atmar’soffice said in a statement.

Meanwhile, officials from the High Peace Council (HPC) have expressed hopethat the recent efforts towards peace helps Afghanistan achieve this goal.

According to Atmar’s office, during the meeting, the Saudi prince alsostressed the need for collective efforts to fight terrorism.

“Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman announced his full support to the peaceprocess in Afghanistan and called on all parties involved to fully supportthis process,” said NSC spokesman Qader Shah.

This comes ahead of the Kabul Process peace meeting at the end of themonth, which government will use to define its future policy for peace.

“At the (last) Kabul Process meeting the world decided that the peaceprocess must be an Afghan-owned process, however we welcome all countrieswho are willing to cooperate with us on this issue,” Ghani’s spokesmanShahhussain Murtazawi said.

“After this, regional and ultra-regional countries will forge cooperationin a sense that they will provide technical cooperation to an Afghan-ledpeace process. We did not have this in the past,” said HPC spokesmanEhsanullah Tahiri.

“Allah will bring to justice if someone kills an innocent human being, thisis a great treason and has no Islamic justification,” said religiousscholar Mawlawi Noor Padshahzada.
