Concrete evidences exist against former DG LDA Ahad Cheema: NAB sources

LAHORE – National Accountability Bureau has concrete evidences againstformer DG LDA Ahad Cheema in different cases, it was revealed by NAB inthe Accountability Court today.

An accountability court on Thursday granted 11-day physical remand ofLahore Development Authority (LDA) former Director General (DG) Ahad Cheema.

The AC judge Muhammad Azam heard the case against the former LDA DG who waspresented before the court in an armored vehicle amid tight security.

During the proceedings, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutorsaid that the accused illegally allotted 32 kanal land in Ashiana HousingScheme in the provincial capital.

The anti-graft agency’s prosecutor further said that Ahad Cheema’s assetswere disproportionate to his income.

He told the court that concrete evidence were present to prove thecorruption of the former LDA DG.

The prosecutor added that the accounts were being used in the Paragon City.

The NAB sought a 14-day remand of the accused, however, the court granted11 days physical remand and handed Ahad Cheema to the anti-graft watchdog.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing till Marach 5.

On Wednesday, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had arrested AhadCheema, former director general of the LDA, in the Ashiana Housing Schemefrom his office on MM Alam Road.

The NAB had summoned Ahad Cheema thrice, but he did not turn up. He wasaccused of giving the land illegally in the scheme.

The NAB had earlier summoned Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif foralleged corruption in the scheme. PM Secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad has alsobeen investigated in the scam.
