ISLAMABAD: Food group exports from the country during the first five monthsof the current financial year (FY20) increased by 16.20pc as compared tothe corresponding period of last year.
Food commodities worth $1.757 billion were exported during July-NovemberFY20 as against the exports of $1.512 billion during the same period ofFY19, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
On the other hand, the import of the food commodities into the countryduring the period under review decreased by 15.36pc, from $2.467 billion in5MFY19 to $2.088.
Meanwhile, on a month-on-month basis, the export of food commoditiesregistered a 16.30pc growth, as food products worth $397.708 million wereexported in November 2019, as against $341.975 million worth of exports inNovember 2018.
However, the import into the country during the month under reviewincreased by 5.14pc, from $480.775 million in November 2018 to $505.503million.
In the first five months of FY20, the country fetched $835.863 by exportingabout 1.601 metric tonnes of rice, an increase of 38.58pc when comparedwith $603.149 million earned during the same period of last year.
