During the Big Bash League, once again, a special stand has been designated for Pakistani cricket fans.
At the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), a stand will be reserved specifically for Pakistani supporters, and it will be named the Haris Rauf.
The stand will cater to the interest of South Asian fans, including Pakistanis, during Melbourne Stars matches. Last season, a Pakistan stand was also set up at the MCG.
Melbourne Stars GM, Max Abbott, said that the purpose of creating the Haris Rauf is to attract Pakistani fans. “We want Pakistani fans to come, enjoy our matches, and showcase their culture,” he said.
He added that Haris Rauf is a fantastic ambassador for the Melbourne Stars, and they are looking forward to welcoming Pakistan’s passionate crowd to support the team.
Max Abbott also mentioned that the presence of Pakistani fans attending for Pakistani cricketers creates an engaging and vibrant atmosphere at the MCG.
It is worth noting that initiatives for South Asian cricketers and the community are part of Cricket Australia’s Multicultural Action Plan.
