ISLAMABAD, Nov 20 (APP): Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Sunday issued show cause notice to Neo News TV for telecast of a social media news item maligning the superior judiciary on November 18.
PEMRA Notice said that the comments given in the programme Ahmed Qureshi tantamount to an effort to malign the superior judiciary. The airing the said news item, the channel has violated the Articles 19 and 204, Pemra Act 2007, PEMRA rules 2009 and the code of conduct of the electronic media implemented on Supreme Court directives.
The management of Neo TV has been given 7 days to respond to the notice.
The PEMRA has the right to ban the programme or impose Rs 1 million fine on the said channel or even suspend its license.
