IHC issues detailed verdict in the Avenfield Reference case appeal

ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday issued the writtenorder of initial hearing conducted over the appeals of Sharif familyconviction by the accountability court.

The appeals of ousted premier Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz andson-in-law Capt (retd.) Safdar have been accepted for regular hearing.

The court has issued notice to National Accountability Court (NAB) andsummoned record of Avenfield case.

Volumes of the appeals have also been prepared while the next hearing willbe held after vacations in the last week of July before the available bench.

Sharif’s counsel Khawaja Haris adopted stance that the accused haveconvicted against law.

“The stance of NAB in the case will also be heard along with the argumentsof defense lawyer,” remarked the court.

Haris requested the court to grant bail to Nawaz Sharif until verdict onhis appeal is announced. He told that all the three accused are ready tosubmit their surety bonds.

The court asked NAB to appoint officers for its assistance in the Avenfieldcase.
