NEW DELHI – Miss India Universe 2010 Ushoshi Sengupta has reported ahorrific incident where the model was subjected to assault and harassmentat the hands of 7-8 motorbike hooligans in Kolkata during a late night rideon Uber.
The model shaken up from the incident couldn’t believe that she would bemade to feel so unsafe in her own neighborhood while taking a ride backhome.
‘Last night 18th June 2019 at around 11:40 pm I took an uber from JWMarriott kolkata to go back home after finishing work, since I work withthe Media and Entertainment industry working late hours is necessary in myjob profile. I was accompanied by my colleague. We were taking a left turnfrom the exide crossing towards Elgin while few boys in a bike (withouthelmet ) came and hit the uber. To which they stopped the bike and startedyelling at the driver. In a fraction of second there were 15 boys and theyall started banging the car window and dragging the driver out. Theydragged the driver and started beating him up. This is when I stepped outand started shouting taking a video of the incident (attached below).’
What really frustrated her was the non-cooperation from the police officerwhom she asked for help on account of non-jurisdiction of the policestation.
