Pakistan s first ever National Center for Cyber Security opens

*ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s first ever National Center for Cyber Security willbe inaugurated in Islamabad on Monday.*

It has been established at Air University Islamabad and Interior MinisterAhsan Iqbal is likely to inaugurate the center, state media Radio Pakistanreported.

The center is aimed at becoming the leading hub of innovation andscientific research to develop tools and technology to protect Pakistan’scyber space and knowledge transfer to local economy and training.

The national center will comprise a number of affiliated labs at variousuniversities.

Air University is also introducing four-year BS Cyber Security program.

The study course is designed to develop students’ strong base in computingand impart to them cyber security skills to design, deploy and managesecure systems as well as to prevent existing systems from cyber attacks.

National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) has recently established aCyber Security Wing on modern lines to evolve cyber security strategies andto meet emerging cyber terrorism threats.

The wing, called Cyber Security, Information and Communication TechnologyWing (CS-ICT), has undertaken a number of initiative in cyber securityservice and most important of them was Tat’heer drive introduced to counterextremist ideologies.
