KABUL: Two top leaders of the Islamic State (IS) were killed in anoperation jointly conducted by Afghan Special Forces and the US military inNorth of Afghanistan.
The NATO Special Operations Component Command in a report said that a U.S.airstrike killed IS top leaders identified as Omair and Abu Samaya as theymet in Sar-e Pul.
Later that night, ASSF conducted a raid on the ISIS-K headquarters inJowzjan, eliminating 13 terrorists. The ASSF conducted the raid in an areaISIS-K believed to be a safe haven for the reception of their foreignfighters and weapons.
Over the last two months, ASSF and U.S. targeting of IS resulted in theremoval of more than more than 140 IS fighters, according to the report.
