The government is looking for the new AGP after Anwar Mansoor earlier todaystepped down as government’s top lawyer following his controversialstatement during the proceedings of Justice Qazi Faez Isa case in theSupreme Court.
Bukari had jointed the PTI in 2016 when he had also led the Panama caserepresenting his party after Hamid Khan disassociated himself from the caseagainst former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
Sources said that the government approached Naeem Bukhar and Makhdoom AliKhan to appoint one of them as the next AGP but both have excused fromholding the post.

Now, the government has contacted another senior lawyer Ali Zafar who hassought time to ponder over the proposal.
The government, according to the sources, is also considering the name ofAdvocate General Punjab Ahmad Jamal Sukhera.
