NEPRA significantly increases electricity prices across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) hasapproved an increase in power tariff by Rs1.80 per unit under the fueladjustment mechanism following the month of January.

According to details, the NEPRA approved the tariff at its headquarter inIslamabad after the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) sought hike overthe reference of increased fuel charges, under the monthly fuel adjustmentcost for power distributing companies.

The approval will cost consumers around Rs13.5 billion, however lifeline,K-electric and agricultural consumers have been excluded.
