ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Attorney General gives an unusual strong responseagainst Pervaiz Musharraf death penalty verdict.
Attorney General of Pakistan Anwar Masood on Thursday said that the federalgovernment will not accept the verdict of special court at any cost, thatpronounced death sentence to former president Pervez Musharraf in the hightreason case.
Anwar Mansoor Khan has strongly condemned the detailed verdict of thespecial court, saying that the government will take action against thejudges.
Anwar Mansoor Khan termed detailed verdict as ‘illegal, unconstitutionaland immoral’. “We have to take action against the concerned judges underArticle 209 and I strongly condemned the verdict of the special court,” headded.
“I will take steps for declaring the verdict null and void after returningfrom Istanbul. This matter will be sent to the Supreme Judicial Council(SJC) of Pakistan for holding an inquiry against the judge,” the attorneygeneral said. He also demanded to remove Justice Waqar Seth over thisverdict.
On the other hand, senior barrister Hamid Khan said that it is clearlywritten that no reference can be filed against any judge on the base of hisdecision.
