LAHORE – The population of Punjab province in Pakistan is likely to hit 25crore by the end of year 2030, it has been revealed.
Punjab Population Welfare Minister Col Hashim Dogar(R) has said thatpopulation is rapidly increasing with every passing day at the presentgrowth rate population of Punjab will reach 250 million in 2030.
He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of USAID onTuesday. He further said that there is a dire need to sensitize the generalpublic with regard to multifarious benefits of family planning and keepingthis thing in view, the Punjab government has started working on it.
He averred that to educate people about hazards of unchecked populationgrowth, a public awareness campaign at district level is launched. “Underthis campaign, social mobilizers will apprise the married couples about theutility of family planning as well as use of latest contraceptive methodsby visiting their homes.

The services of religious scholars will also be utilized to make thiscampaign a success. In this connection, the role of media is alsoimportant, he added,” According to him, departmental record is beingcomputerized to improve the organizational performance.
