ISLAMABAD – Former premier Nawaz Sharif has lashed out at the NAB and thePanama JIT.
Sharif while answering queries to the accountability court in the Al-Aziziareference, stated that the statements recorded by the joint investigationteam during the probe were not acceptable evidence.
He said that should they beg and not start business abroad when they wereexpelled from the country.
The former premier said: “What was surprising thing if my sons sent moneyto me?”
He said that the amounts sent to his accounts from abroad were rightlyshown in the record. “A miscellaneous petition was filed in Supreme Courtto reject the so-called evidence and report collected by the JIT. In thepetition, I stated that the JIT is not more than an investigation agency.The statement recorded to the investigating agency cannot be produced asevidence in court,” he stated.
Nawaz Sharif said that the JIT investigations were based on bias andwithout proofs and he had just submitted income tax returns, the wealthstatement and wealth returns.
