India furious at former Pakistani Skipper Shahid Aridi over his statement

ISLAMABAD – Indian media and social media users are furious at formerPakistani Skipper Shahid Aridi over his statement against Indian PremierLeague.

Former cricketer, Shahid Afridi has blamed Indian Premier League as areason for Sri Lankan players not taking part in series against Pakistan.

Earlier media reports had also surfaced depicting Indian IPL pressure overtop Srilankan players refusal to visit Pakistan.

Pak journalist Saj Sadiq tweeted Shahid Afridi’s response in which he said,”Sri Lankan players are under pressure from IPL franchises. I spoke to SLplayers last time when there was talk of them coming to Pakistan & playingin PSL. They said they wanted to come, but IPL guys say if you go toPakistan we won’t give you a contract” #PAKvSL”.

The issue started when ten Sri Lankan cricketers opted out of the upcomingPakistan tour over security fears.

The players were Niroshan Dickwella, Kusal Perera, Dhananjaya De Silva,Thisara Perera, Akila Dhananjaya, Lasith Malinga, Angelo Mathews, SurangaLakmal, Dinesh Chandimal and Dimuth Karunaratne.

Sri Lanka Cricket will be touring Pakistan to play three ODIs and as manyT20Is from September 27 to October 9 but will only include players whoopted to go.
