CHANDIGARH –Massive Protests started in India against former Indiancricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu on his return from Pakistan on Sunday.
Indian Punjab’s minister, Sidhu crossed Wagha border on Friday to attendthe oath-taking ceremony on Pakistan’s 22nd Prime Minister Imran Khan.
SAD workers staged a protest after he met and hugged Pakistan Army chiefGeneral Qamar Javed Bajwa at the oath-taking ceremony of Imran Khan inIslamabad.
Sidhu was seated next to President of Azad Kashmir, Masood Khan at theswearing-in ceremony.
The black flag was shown to Sidhu by the Akali workers under the leadershipof Kanwalpreet Kaki.
According to them, Sidhu has hurt the martyrs’ families.
Moreover, Sidhu shook hands and hugged the newly-elected 22nd PM ofPakistan before gifting him a shawl. Several other friends of Khan from thecricketing world also joined the meeting.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday also launched a scathingattack on the Congress party over its party leader Navjot Singh Sidhu’sPakistan visit and said that his visit was “no less than a crime”.
Addressing a press briefing, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra said,“It is no less than a crime that a Congress member and cabinet minister inPunjab government went to Pakistan for the swearing-in ceremony of PrimeMinister Imran Khan and acted in a certain way.”
