KABUL – The 99th year of independence of Afghanistan was celebrated incapital Kabul and other provinces and cities of the country.
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani participated in the wreath laying ceremonyof the Independence Day along with some other high level governmentofficials.
The Office of the President, ARG Palace, in a statement said theIndependence Day wreath laying ceremony was organized in the Ministry ofDefense where President Ghani laid wreath at the independence monument topay tribute to King Amanullah Khan, martyrs, and those who fought for theindependence of the country.
The statement further added that Chief Executive of the Unity GovernmentAbdullah, First Vice President General Abdul Rashid Dostu, former PresidentHamid Karzai, King Amanullah’s daughter Princess India, second deputy chiefexecutive Mohammad Mohaqiq, Supreme Court Chief Syed Yousuf Halim, NationalSecurity Adviser Mohammad Hanif Atmar, Ulema Council Chief MawlaviQeyamuddin Kashaf, cabinet members, presidential advisers, parliament andSupreme Court members, army generals and officers, and the ambassadors andenvoys of some countries had attended the ceremony.
