ISLAMABAD (APP): Senate Standing Sub-Committee on Education on Monday took strict notice on the malpractice, corruption, illegal appointments and violation of rule of law in the Hazara University.
The senate body also directed authorities concerned to present a detailed report in the next meeting.
The body meeting was held here under the chairmanship of Nauman Wazir Khatak and attended by the Senator Nuzhat Yasmeen, Mushahid Hussain Syed, Azam Sawati , Chairman HEC DR Mukhtar Ahmad and representative from the Hazara University.
Chairman Higher Education Commission Dr Mukhtar Ahmad presented the inquiry report to the senate body on the malpractice by the Hazara University management.
HEC representative while briefing the body about the mismanagement in the university said that Ex-Vice Chancellor had appointed a registrar Shah-i-Room illegally as he was not meeting the criteria demanded for the post.
The body was informed that Shah-i-Room was also involved in the corruption scam of 40 thousand Pounds on the name of Ph.d admission in the United Kingdom University.
The body directed the authorities concerned to investigate the matter.
Senator Azam Sawati said that despite illegal appointment and misuse of admission fee for studying in UK, the registrar is still enjoying the perks and privileged from the university.
He said that registrar has some political influence in the Khyber Pakhtukhwa government and VC was also supporting him. The body directed the HEC to take strict action and punish him for violation of law.
The committee also directed to call the registrar in next meeting as without his opinion the body cannot make any decision.
The senate body on education has expressed dissatisfaction over the report of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in which it was said that there were no mismanagement was observed by Shah-i-Room.
Mushahid Hussain Syed lauded the role of HEC in investigation of the scam and said that it has done very well job.
Azam Sawati said that the senators will support HEC to further enhance its role as it is important institutions of the country.
The body was also informed about a canteen, a park and misuse of official vehicles scam at university.
Chairman of the committee Nauman Wazir Khatak directed the HEC to use its power and take notice of the issue of Hazara University.
