National Security Committee meets yet again

*ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the National Security Committee, the country’s topcivil-military body, will be held today to take up the issues concerningnational and regional security as well as Indian aggression along the Lineof Control and Working Boundary.*

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will chair the meeting at PM Houselater today.

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chairman Joint Chiefs ofStaff Committee General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, Chief of Naval Staff AdmiralZafar Mahmood Abbasi, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal MujahidAnwar Khan, Director General ISI Lieutenant Generl Naveed Mukhtar and othersenior military as well as civil officials will attend the meeting.

The meeting comes on the heels of unprovoked ceasefire violations by Indianforces at different sectors of the Sialkot Working Boundary on Friday thatkilled six people, four of them belonging to the same family, and wounded22 other civilians.

It is pertinent to mention here that this is the second huddle of the topcivil-military body in less than a week as it met earlier this week todiscuss the situation that stemmed from former premier Nawaz Sharif’scontroversial statement about Pakistan’s alleged role in the November 2008Mumbai attacks.

The NSC meeting, convened on a proposal of the militaryleadership, unanimously condemned and rejected the statement of Mr. Sharifon the Mumbai attacks, terming it “incorrect and misleading.”

The NSC clarified India, not Pakistan is responsible for a probe into theMumbai attacks. Besides, India didn’t provide any evidence to Pakistan, delaying conclusion of the Mumbai attacks trial in Pakistan.

The participants of the meeting said they reject the PML-N Quaid’sfallacious assertions, which negated the truth.

“India on a number of occasions refused to extend cooperation in connectionwith the probe nor did it provide access to the key suspect behind theattacks.” “Ajmal Kasab’s execution in a hurried manner is the main reasonbehind the case still pending.”
