ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting ChaudhryFawad Hussain says government aims to build up the first truly MediaUniversity which would include dedicated technological hub for the futuregenerations of Pakistan.
He was chairing a meeting regarding the establishment of Media Universityin Islamabad today (Tuesday).
The Minister said internet age has changed the paradigm and the importanceof ubiquitous social media has increased manifold. He termed it imperativeto learn the innovative skills needed to practice and participate in themedia industry.
Information Minister said Media University is being established by mergingPTV, PBC and Information Service Academies into one state of the artlandmark University.
He added that curriculum would be devised in consultation with allstakeholders, covering wide range of subjects including the courses ondrama production, film and cinema studies.
Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said the students will not only be impartededucation about news media and other journalistic disciplines, but wouldalso be trained in the best digital technological practices prevalent inthe media sector.
The Minister sought Chinese telecom company Huawei’s assistance andpartnership in the venture of establishing technical school as part of theMedia University.
Country Head Huawei Saif Chi showed his keen interest to make contributionto the project and briefed the meeting in detail regarding company’songoing collaboration with different educational institutes in Pakistan.
