DUBAI – A military contingent of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) willparticipate in the Pakistan Day parade to be held in Islamabad on March 23(Friday).
“This will be the first time that a contingent from the UAE military willparade along with Pakistan armed forces at the official ceremony inIslamabad to mark the 78th National Day of Pakistan,” Ambassador ofPakistan Moazzam Ahmed Khan told Gulf News on Monday.
He said that participation of the UAE military contingent in the NationalDay celebrations is a great gesture and honour for Pakistan.
A spokesperson of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) also confirmedthat UAE military contingent would parade along with their band at theofficial ceremony in the capital.
Pakistan Day is celebrated to mark the Lahore Resolution on March 23 eachyear. The Lahore Resolution, which is also called Pakistan Resolution,passed on March 23, 1940, is considered a major milestone in the Muslimstruggle for an independent Muslim state which was later called Pakistan.
Elaborate arrangements have also been made by the Pakistan embassy and thecommunity organisations in the UAE to celebrate their country’s NationalDay. An official diplomatic reception by the embassy will be held in AbuDhabi on March 21 and a similar event will be held by the PakistanConsulate General in Dubai on March 26. Flag hoisting ceremonies will beheld at the missions at 8.30am on March 23.
Pakistan Social Centre Sharjah and Pakistan Centre in Ras Al Khaimah havealso arranged similar community events on March 23.
Last year, smart contingents of Chinese and Turkish armies participated inthe Pakistan Day parade.
