United States gets a setback from ally Japan

WASHINGTON – United States gets a setback from ally Japan as Tokyo refusedto join US coalition forces in Middle East.

Japan says it will not join any US coalition to protect merchant vessels inMiddle Eastern waterways.

Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga told a news briefing inTokyo today that his country will send a separate naval force to ensure thesafety of vessels related to Japan.

He said Japanese naval force is likely to include warships and aircraftthat will patrol the Gulf of Oman, the Northern Arabian Sea and otherwaters in the area.
