PM Imran Khan forms CPEC Business Advisory Council

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired a meeting on Friday to reviewprogress on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.

The meeting decided to form a CPEC Business Advisory Council. Whilestressing the need for early completion of the CPEC projects, directed theBoard of Investment’s chairman to present a comprehensive plan for swiftdevelopment of special economic zones (SEZs) in the country.

The meeting reviewed progress on Pak-China cooperation in the areas ofIndustrial development, Special Economic Zones, ML-1 project, AgricultureDevelopment, Socio-economic Development, Infrastructure Development andGwadar development.

The prime minister said Pak-China cooperation in industrial development andagriculture sector would help realizing country’s potential in thesesectors. He stressed upon the need to further expedite progress on variousprojects Under the CPEC.

PM Khan said early completion of China pakistan Economic Corridor relatedproject is in Pakistan’s interest as it would bring huge socio-economicopportunities to the people. He said Pakistan can greatly benefit fromChinese experience of extricating its people from poverty traps.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that China Pakistan EconomicCorridor (CPEClink)will enhance links between the Middle East and Gulf countries.
