Maryam Nawaz Sharif lands into yet another trouble

Islamabad – PML N Vice President Maryam Nawaz Sharif lands into yet anothertrouble even after the favourable verdict from the Election Commission ofPakistan over her disqualification. Federal government on Tuesday hasdecided to challenge the ECP verdict in favour of Maryam Nawaz Sharif.Federalgovernment to move court against Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP)verdict allowing incarcerated Maryam Nawaz to continue acting asvice-president of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz.

Addressing a presser here in the federal capital, Special Advisor to PrimeMinister (PM) on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan termedECP’s verdict is violation of Supreme Court’s (SC) verdict that barsconvicted person from holding any office.

Earlier today, ECP turned down petition filed by ruling PakistanTehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against candidacy of Maryam Nawaz.

The verdict was announced by three-member bench headed by CEC Justice(retd) Sardar Mohammad Raza Khan.

ECP’s verdict rules that Maryam can’t be appointed as acting president ofPML-N till she is in custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB)and that Maryam—Nawaz’s political heir—must not accept any functionalposition of the party.
