*LONDON – In its new mocked-up image, the terror group ISIS has threatenedto behead footballers Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at the World Cup.*
Both superstars are shown in a mocked-up image pinned down on the packedstadium with knife-wielding terrorist hacking at their necks. The picture,released on Telegram by a pro-ISIS group, has a chilling caption saying‘the ground will be filled with your blood’.
In another poster, a militant is shown carrying what appears to be anexplosive device into a stadium. It comes with the message, ‘Fifa World CupRussia 2018 – victory will be ours’.
This is not the first time that ISIS has threatened Messi or the attack atworld cup in Russia. The recent poster is the latest in a series of onlinethreats made against this summer’s showpiece football tournament andBarcelona star Messi has been the target of similar warnings over the lastyear.
In October last year, a poster was released by a pro-ISIS group,threatening to bring terror to FIFA World Cup scheduled to be held inRussia. The poster featured an image of Barcelona and Argentina star Messi.
