President Mamnoon Hussain writes a new page in the history of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – President Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday has written a new page inthe history of Pakistan today.

He signed a bill extending the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court andPeshawar High Court to the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) intolaw at the Presidency.

On Friday, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani had forwarded the bill extendingthe jurisdiction of the Supreme Court and Peshawar High Court to theFederally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) to President Mamnoon Hussain forapproval.

The Senate had unanimously passed a bill extending the jurisdiction of theSC and PHC to FATA.

The Supreme Court and High Court (Extension Jurisdiction to FederallyAdministered Tribal Areas) Bill, 2018, was moved by Law Minister MahmoodBashir Virk.

The FATA reforms, which include its merger with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as wellas the extension of court jurisdiction, are a part of one of the pointslisted in the National Action Plan (NAP) countering terrorism in thecountry.
