*ISLAMABAD – Pakistan claims a big breakthrough in averting the Iran -Saudi Arabia conflict in the Gulf Region.*
Pakistan’s diplomatic initiative has successfully prevented threats of animmediate conflict between Iran and Saudi Arabia. Pakistani PM Imran Khan’shectic shuttle diplomacy had reportedly bear fruit and the escalationbetween the two arch rivals have been reduced.
Pakistan FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi said both Saudi and Iranian leadershipagreed to pursue diplomatic options to resolve their disputes.
“Pakistan’s main purpose of diplomatic initiative was to prevent anyescalation in tensions. I can say with authority that we have achieved thatobjective,” he told reporters.

His announcement comes hours after Prime Minister Imran Khan wrapped hisvisit to Saudi Arabia as part of Islamabad’s efforts to defuse tensions inthe Persian Gulf region.
Tensions have been building up in the Middle East following missile strikestargeting Saudi oil facilities on September 14. Riyadh and the Washingtonblamed Tehran but the Rouhani government denied its role.
