DUBAI – Multan Sultans have defeated Islamabad United by five wickets inthe fourth match of ongoing Pakistan Super League in Dubai.
While chasing a target of 126 runs, Sultans reached home with eight ballsto spare. Sultans skipper Shoaib Malik led from the front with an crucialunbeaten knock of 31 runs.
Shahid Afridi and Andre Russell played brisk cameos of 16 runs each. ForUnited, lege-spinner Shadab Khan claimed two wickets.
Earlier United posted 125-7 in their allotted 20 overs, after Sultans wonthe toss and elected to field first. The only notable performer with thebat for United was wicketkeeper-batsman and opener Luke Ronchi — who scored51 runs off 33 balls. His innings include one boundary and five sixes.
The rest of the United batting lineup did not look comfortable againstSultans’ bowling and were, hence, restricted to a modest total. ForSultans, Shahid Afridi and Ali Shafiq were the pick of the bowlers with twowickets each. Junaid Khan also claimed similar number of wickets.
