BEIJING – China has said that the UN Security Council has set a detailedcriteria for listing and designation of terror outfits and individuals,which it deliberates in an objective, unbiased and professional manner.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang was responding to aquestion regarding China’s response if India moves UNSC to placeJaish-e-Mohammed and its chief Masood Azhar on sanction list during a pressconference on Friday.
The spokesperson said the JeM, which has reportedly claimed the attack onIndian security forces in occupied Kashmir which claimed 44 lives, isalready on the UNSC sanctions list against terrorism.
However, the spokesperson added, “China will continue to deal with therelevant listing issue in a constructive and responsible manner”.
Earlier in 2017, China blocked Indian attempt to place the JeM chief on theglobal terrorist list on grounds that New Delhi had failed to provide anysubstantial evidence.
Meanwhile, China condemned the suicide attack, expressed sympathy andoffered condolences to the bereaved families.
