MULTAN – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Member Punjab Assembly, Malik MazharAbbas Raan passed away at the age of 65 on Wednesday.
He was one of main politicians of Multan who represented people for a longperiod.Mazhar Abbas was suffering from cardiac and blood pressure complicationsand was shifted to a hospital in Lahore wherein he died.He was born on February 01,1953. He completed his graduation fromGovernment Emerson College Multan in 1978.Mazhar Abbas Raan started his political career fromPakistan Peoples Party.In 1988, he contested from PP-166, against Shah Mehmood Qureshi and lostelection. In 1990,he again faceddefeat against Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
In 1997, he became MPA onthe ticket of Pakistan Muslim League-N. In 2002,he was ticket holderof PML-N but faced defeat against PPP candidate Malik ArshadRaan. In 2008,PPP candidate Abbas Raan secured victory againsthim.In 2013, he once again became MPA on the ticket of PML-Nafter defeating Murid Hussain Qureshi. In 2018,he won election on PTIticket from PP-218.The deceased was being shifted to Qadirpur Raan (Multan) from Lahore,saidsources here.
