*ISLAMABAD: **New Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court appointed by JCP,Media Report has revealed. *
The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on Thursday nominated JusticeMamoon Rashid Sheikh for the post of the Lahore High Court chief justice.The commission will now meet on November 21 to consider the names of judgesfor appointment to the Islamabad High Court.
The meeting of the commission was presided over by Chief Justice ofPakistan Asif Saeed Khosa.
The incumbent chief justice of the Lahore High Court, Justice SardarMuhammad Shamim Khan, will retire on December 31.
Justice Sheikh’s name for the post will be notified after the endorsementof the Parliamentary Committee on Judges Appointment.
In its next meeting, the JCP will consider the names of Advocate GhulamAzam Qambrani from Balochistan, Fayaz Jandran from Islamabad and BaniPervaiz from Sindh for appointment to the Islamabad High Court.
After taking oath, Justice Sheikh will serve as LHC CJ till March 18 nextyear.
