Mother defeats son in by polls in one of the unique election in Pakistan

MUZAFFARGARH – A woman secured victory in PP-272 Muzaffargarh by-polls bydefeating her son, who ran elections as an independent candidate againsther, in a tough contest.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) fielded Zehra Batool for the provincialassembly seat where her son named Haroon Sultan Bukhari came forward tocontest against her mother.

According to unofficial results of the by-polls held on Sunday, Batoolbagged 24,019 votes, while Bukhari stood second with 17,072 votes.

Polling for the 11 National Assembly seats and 24 provincial assembly seatswere held on Oct 14. As per unofficial results for NA seats, the PTI andthe Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) win four seats each.
