UN Security Council places ISIS Khorasan operating in Pakistan and Afghanistan on sanctions list

KABUL – United Nations Security Council has included Daesh’s Khorasanbranch on its sanctions list.

The UN said the militant group has carried out dozens of terror attacks inAfghanistan and Pakistan.

“In accordance with paragraph 13 of resolution 1822 (2008) and subsequentrelated resolutions, the ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaida Sanctions Committeemakes accessible a narrative summary of reasons for the listing forindividuals, groups, undertakings and entities included in the ISIL(Da’esh) and Al-Qaida Sanctions List,” the UNSC said in a statement onTuesday.

“All groups which are fighting against the Afghan security forces, in ourperspective, they are terrorists, and those which have a role indestabilizing Afghanistan are also terrorists.

We welcome the move by the UN to put the terrorists on its backlists and wehope that this process will continue so that no terror group is able tooperate freely,” said Sibghatullah Ahmadi, spokesman to Afghan ForeignMinistry.
