Pakistan has taken steps to curb money laundering, suspicious transactions as per FATF requirements: FO

ISLAMABAD: Spokesman Foreign Office Dr Muhammad Faisal on Thursday saidthat India is bent upon aggression, however, Pakistan is fully capable todefend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

At the weekly briefing in Islamabad, he said Pakistan is always ready fortalks with India to resolve all outstanding issues including the core issueof Kashmir.

The spokesman said both the countries cannot move forward without resolvingKashmir issue. He reiterated Pakistan’s principled stance that Kashmiripeople should be given the right to self-determination or plebiscite underUNSC resolutions.

Dr Faisal regretted that India did not allow 173 Hindu yatrees to visitKatas Raj temple despite all preparations put in place by Pakistan.

The spokesman outrightly rejected the Indian allegations against Pakistanin terror attack in Indian occupied Kashmir.

He said unfounded allegations prior to any investigation and evidence arehighly regrettable and international community should take cognisance ofthis approach.

About the Financial Action Task Force and Pakistan’s inclusion in theglobal terror-financing Watch List, Dr Muhammad Faisal said State Bank andParliament have taken substantial steps to curb money laundering andsuspicious transactions.

He said any attempt to include Pakistan in Watch List will be tantamount tohamper economic reforms undertaken by Pakistan for economic development ofthe country.
