LAHORE – Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi arrived in Lahore Mondaymorning, after which he called on former premier and Pakistan MuslimLeague-N chief Nawaz Sharif.
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif received the prime minister at theairport.
Following his arrival, the premier departed for Jati Umra, Nawaz Sharif’sresidence, along with Shehbaz on a helicopter.
Sources said the meeting will see discussion on the country’s politicalsituation, party affairs and strategy for the upcoming elections, amongother issues.
Sources said that later, Federal Railways Minister Saad Rafique joined themeeting, where the party leaders will also discuss their plan to deal withthe joint opposition protest starting on Wednesday.
The protest, a brainchild of Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Dr Tahirul Qadri,will be held on January 17.
The countries largest opposition parties, the Pakistan Peoples Party andPakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, have agreed to join the protest which calls forthe dismissal of the PML-N government.
