KABUL: Rejecting reports about the participation of their representativesin a conference held in Istanbul city of Turkey, the Taliban said on lateSaturday night it was a fake process.
According to some media reports, the representatives of two Talibanfactions, Hizb-e-Islami and High Peace Council of Afghanistan are holding agathering in Istanbul to discuss the Afghan peace process.
A representative of the Taliban’s movement under the leadership of SheikhHibatullah Akhundzada is also attending the conference, the reportssuggested.
However, spokesman for Taliban movement Zabihullah Mujahid rejected thesereports as false and said: “The media reports about the participation ofIslamic Emirate’s representative in the conference held in Turkey have noreality. We neither have any representative there, nor could anyparticipant represent Islamic Emirate in the conference. Such fakeprocesses are part of intelligence conspiracies and an effort to damage theongoing jihad.”
According to media reports, a conference was kicked off in Istanbul city ofTurkey to discuss the Afghan peace process.
Members of Hizb-e-Islami Afghanistan of Engineer Gulbadin Hekmatyar, tworepresentatives of Taliban faction known as High Council of Islamic Emirateunder the leadership of Mullah Muhammad Rasool and members of High PeaceCouncil of Afghanistan are attending the gathering.
According to the media reports, a representative of Taliban movement underthe leadership of Sheikh Hibatullah Akhundzada is also participating in thegathering. However, the Taliban rejected the reports as false and baseless.
Such gatherings had been reportedly held in Saudi Arabia, United ArabEmirates and Turkey in the past. However, these conferences have notproduced any positive outcomes for the Afghan peace process.
The Afghan government, Hizb-e-Islami, High Peace Council and the Talibanfaction led by Mullah Muhammad Rasool have not said anything about thefresh conference held in Turkey till the filling of this report.
