Former Chief Minister KP Pervaiz Khattak lands in hot waters

ISLAMABAD – Former Chief Minister KP Pervaiz Khattak lands in hot waters.

The Supreme Court (SC) ordered on Friday former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)Chief Minister Pervez Khattak to deposit Rs1.3 million in a case pertainingto his picture being featured in a provincial government advertisement.

The bench, headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar, washearing a suo motu case relating to advertisements by the Sindh, KhyberPakhtunkhwa and Punjab governments. The CJP was informed by the additionaladvocate general for KP that the former CM was willing to deposit Rs 1.365million, local media reported.

The CJP directed Khattak to deposit the said amount within 10 days andsubmit the SC a report after the amount was deposited. On November 29, theKP government had submitted a report to the SC which the top court hadrejected. The SC had sought a reply from the KP government over itsadvertisements in which Khattak’s pictures were featured.
