ISLAMABAD – In a surprise revelation it has surfaced that a large numberof new lawmakers have entered the parliament in Pakistan for the first timein the history.
As many as 139 members, roughly 41 per cent of the National Assembly, tookoath for the first time on Monday.
Approximately 102 of the 139 newly elected members directly contested theelections while 37 were selected on reserved seats.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) represented 67 members followed by 16from the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). 13 of the newly elected memberswere from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), eight from MuttahidaMajlis-e-Amal (MMA), two from Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) andone from the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q).
