Maryam Nawaz nomination papers: ECP announces reserved verdict

LAHORE – The nomination papers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)leader Maryam Nawaz for the National Assembly constituency NA-127 has beenapproved.

While announcing the reserved verdict, the Returning Officer approvednomination papers of Maryam Nawaz.

The PML-N leader was accused of having two passports one with the nameMaryam Nawaz and the other with the name Maryam Safdar, however, the ROrejected the objection.

It is pertinent here to mention that the daughter of former prime ministerand PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif had appeared before the RO for the scrutinyof her nomination papers.

During the session, the returning officer had asked Maryam how she willovercome water and terrorism issues to which, she said that dams will beconstructed to eliminate water crisis while her party has been taking stepsto combat terrorism from past five years.

Earlier, the scrutiny of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader HamzaShahbaz’s papers has also been completed whereas former Chief Minister ofPunjab (CM) Shehbaz Sharif is yet to appear for the clearance.

It is to be mentioned here that candidates can withdraw their candidatureby June 28 after which final list of candidates will be published on thesame day. Election symbols will be allotted to the contesting candidates on29th of this month.

Earlier, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had stated that over 12000nomination papers were filed by candidates with electoral body as deadlineexpired on Monday.
